Discord User Base Triples To 130 Million In One Year

Everyone's using the gaming chat platform Discord these days, and for good reason: It's awesome! So it shouldn't come as a surprise that it's tripled its audience size to 130 million registered users in just one year. Those are jaw-dropping numbers, and it seemed to happen so quietly!

These numbers are up from reports of 45 million users back in May 2017, and then a bump to 90 million at the close of 2017. These latest numbers were released by Discord in celebration of the company's third anniversary, and the freeware program shows no signs of slowing down. Its peak user count, incidentally, is 8.2 million, with over 750 games featuring official, verified servers on the platform, including Fortnite and PUBG. This no doubt helps to drive user numbers forward, so it's not exactly a mystery how so many players got signed up on the platform.

With its Xbox partnership and so many streamers and other content creators constantly opening up Discord servers, it won't be crazy to see the chat platform, now in its third year of operation, continue to grow exponentially as the years go by. In the meantime, why not stop by the Shacknews Discord channel and see why it's such a clean and awesome platform for keeping in touch with other gamers?
